Property Management Locksmith Services
First and foremost, I would like to say that we dedicate 100% to the security of the properties you manage. Regardless of the number of units, whether you manage 2 or 200 properties, we can set them up on a master key system. Each tenant would have a key that would fit only the property that they are occupying, while you as the property manager would have only 1 or 2 keys to fit every property. Having only 1 or 2 keys that will open all of your properties will make your job as the property manager that much easier.
In between tenants, we can rekey the lock so that the previous tenants key will no longer work and we will issue a new working key. However, your master key will still work in the lock. We understand that documentation is important when it comes to managing yours and others investments. This is why with DNA Locksmith we document every service we perform; we will not just give you an invoice that gives a package item as the only line item, we will separate and even include our free $0.00 services on separate lines. Rekeying a lock is the process of changing parts inside the lock to work with another key. This process voids the previous key used by a tenant. The new key will be the only key that operates the lock. The locks themselves will remain the same, during a rekey we do not replace them, they will just work with a new key. You may need to rekey a lock when:
- keys are lost or stolen
- one or more locks need to work off of the same key
- a new tenant or owner wants to make sure they are the only persons in possession of the key to their home
- in between tenants
- a bank owned or foreclosed home is being listed for sale
Just like the rekey, we change the parts inside the lock. The difference is that we add extra pins so that more than 1 key can operate the lock. In a master key system, a landlord or property manager can have many homes that they open with 1 key. However, the tenants have a key that will only open the home that they occupy.
Keying locks alike is a rekey, but it is the idea that instead of multiple keys opening multiple doors around the house, we rekey the locks to use only 1 key for all locks around the home. This helps when it’s dark and you find yourself fumbling with keys to find the right one or if you would just like to thin down the key ring a bit.
Sometimes you may not have your spare of a spare available, have lost all your keys, or simply have a property that has an area or lock you do not have access to. These are the times you would need a locksmith to pick the lock. When people think of picking locks they think of lockouts only usually. However, sometimes we may need to pick interior doors or padlocks as well. For example, a landlord locks a bedroom off for storage that is not to be used as part of his vacation rental. We may need to pick these locks if the key(s) are not available. Sometimes people lock up their shed or other buildings using padlocks, we can usually pick these as well.
Lockouts are pretty obvious. You left for a night out on the town or a day of shopping and when you return home, you realize you are not able to access your home because the keys have been lost or misplaced. At this point, it is a good idea to have a locksmith on hand or on call to get you back into your property.
Installing deadbolts and/or knobs need to be done after you replace a door or add the security of a deadbolt to an existing door that only has a knob. There are times where you just want to replace deadbolts or knobs because they are worn, don’t work, or just for aesthetic reasons.
Duplicating keys is just that, making an exact copy of a working key. It is always a good idea to have a spare or two on hand.
We can decode, open, or remove the 4 digit combination lockbox that we commonly find on homes. If you have a collection of these type of lockbox. Let us know and we will come out to take care of them all at once so that you can put them back into circulation.

Most homes have a front, back, and garage door, this covers most homes There is only a small up-charge for additional locks. We document the key and property.
Check all smoke alarms –
Upon request, we will check every smoke alarm with SMOKE. The button on the smoke alarm only tests the battery. What many people do not know is that this does not mean the smoke detector actually works. Testing with SMOKE will tell whether the smoke alarm is truly functional. This is also documented.
Reenforce Deadbolts –
Upon request, while doing this service, we will also reinforce the deadbolts with much longer SPAX screws. This will provide extra strength to the door from a kick in attack since the screws will reach the studs. The typical screws found in deadbolts provide almost no strength against a kick in attack.
Check deadbolts for proper throw –
Deadbolts should extend a full 1″ and the deadbolt bore hole should not impede full extension of the deadbolt. If it does, this is a security concern that should be dealt with, and we will while we are there. Upon request we will make sure that the bolt fully extends.
Pictures by request –
By request due to owner’s or bank’s need, we will take pictures of the property inside and out as long as the property is not currently occupied. We will email the pictures to the appropriate person as soon as possible following the service. The photos are timestamped and will be taken to the standards of bank required asset photos. There is an additional fee for this service when in addition to other services.

We document every single service we do while at a job site, regardless if it is a paid or free service. This helps in situations where legal liability is called into question. This documentation will show that the smoke detectors are tested and working during our visit. It shows that the locks are in fact rekeyed at that particular property. If someone breaks into the property, the documentation will show that you took every measure to ensure that the person who broke in did not have a key or easy access. Insurance may not pay out on a claim that you can not prove as a break in using brute force.
We will take Asset Photos of any property within our service area for a fee. There is a small fee when the photos are requested while we are present for another locksmith service. Otherwise, we have a standard fee if the trip is solely for Asset Photos. I have experience with the initial and ongoing REO procedures typically required by many banks. The photos are timestamped and are taken from many angles. We will take pictures of any damages and all mechanicals. The Photos are divided into their respectful locations in folders and will be provided to you by a link to the Dropbox folder they will be stored on.
